Vintage 2022 “The exquisite agony of minuscule yields.”
A wet windy spring decimated yields but was fortunately (or rather painfully) followed by superb ripening as a mild summer rolled in without any major spikes in heat or disease pressure. We had access to long picking windows and feel the intensity of flavour found in the resulting fruit is really expressing itself in the wines, even at this young age. Tom McCarthy, Winemaker
Join us on Sunday the 2nd of April for a tasting of the freshly release Hickson Chardonnay and Foothills Pinot Noir, from 2pm to 4:30pm at cellar door!
2022 Hickson Chardonnay
Heritage vineyard planted in 1982, deeply rooted and consistently providing us with intense, high quality fruit. We are so grateful to have been making Hickson for the past 9 years.
Ripe fruit profile interlaced with a wonderful acidity. Whole bunches pressed to French oak (puncheons). Toasty and nutty yet elegant. Cannot wait to share the latest vintage!
Plus a taste of Hickson 2019!
2022 Foothils Pinot Noir
From our Silverwood vineyard in Balnarring, the 2022 crop produced small yields once again but with some extra intensity. A year for great vibrant reds with tiny bunches and smaller berries, there is some amazing colour and brightness in this wine.
Bright red fruits and subtle spice with complex structure we aspire to in our reds. Super excited!
